The Ramblers are taking their usual August break so they will next meet on 2 September for a walk from Newtowncashel to Saint’s Island and back.
All Ramblers and their families are wished a very relaxing and enjoyable August break.
Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail
We have received the following email from the Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail:
The Croagh Patrick Heritage Trail are hosting their annual community walk and talk to the Boheh Stone on Friday, 24th of August at 7.30 pm during National Heritage Week.
This is a guided 2 km walk and a local archaeologist will talk about this unique historic site. The Boheh Stone features notable examples of Neolithic rock art and from this vantage point (weather permitting) you may see the “Rolling Sun” phenomenon, where the sun appears to roll down the side of Croagh Patrick at dusk.
Meeting at Brackloon Community Centre at 7.30 pm (located 8 km from Westport, Co. Mayo, on the N59 Leenane Road, beside Liscarney Post Office). A cover charge of €5 applies and light refreshments will be served before the event.
